Startup Industry
October 2021 to December 2021
My Role: Motion Graphics Designer
Collaborators: Benj Billiones - Creative Lead
Objective: Create motion-led content that visually captured the growth, energy, and collective spirit of the Philippine startup ecosystem for a nationwide digital event.
“Visualizing a Nation’s Startup Momentum”
Philippine Startup Week 2021 was a nationwide virtual event celebrating Filipino innovation at a pivotal post-pandemic moment. As the Video and Motion Graphics Editor, I created on-brand animated content that powered the event’s promotions, live segments, and post-event storytelling.
At stake was more than visibility. With founders, investors, students, policymakers, and ecosystem partners tuning in, the challenge was to visually communicate momentum, showing that the Philippine startup scene wasn’t just surviving, but evolving. My role focused on translating that collective growth into motion-led narratives that felt modern, credible, and inspiring across digital platforms.

Insights: “Inviting Audiences into the Movement”
With Philippine Startup Week already established as an annual event, the goal wasn’t reinvention, it was elevation.
Key insight: returning audiences needed to instantly recognize the event, while feeling that this year marked a bigger chapter.
-
We refreshed existing visual language without breaking brand continuity.
-
Motion became the primary storytelling tool, symbolizing progress, scale, and movement.
-
A simple evolving sphere became the core motif, representing both the individual and the collective Philippine startup community.
The strategy positioned PHSW21 as a living ecosystem, one that audiences could join, contribute to, and grow with.

Execution: “From Teasers to Takeaways”
The campaign spanned pre-event, live, and post-event phases under tight timelines and remote production constraints.
Key deliverables included:
-
A 60-second promotional teaser optimized for social and paid ads
-
On-broadcast motion graphics and OBBs designed to blend seamlessly with live streams
-
Multi-day event recap videos condensed into clear, narrative-driven highlights
Despite working fully remotely, I provided clear production standards, from lighting to green screen use, ensuring consistency and broadcast-quality output. Storyboards were presented early to align stakeholders, while rapid iterations kept pace with a fast-moving production schedule.

Results: “Measured Reach, Lasting Presence”
The motion assets successfully supported the campaign across its full lifecycle.
-
Promotional videos delivered strong reach and lead performance on digital platforms
-
Live OBBs integrated smoothly into broadcasts, maintaining energy between segments
-
Post-event recaps preserved key talks, moments, and voices from a multi-day program
On a personal level, seeing my work deployed at a national scale, supporting a mission to uplift Filipino innovation, was deeply fulfilling. The project reinforced how motion design can shape not just visuals, but shared momentum.
